Chapter 5. Between context and community

چکیده
This paper investigates the relationship between stylistic context of utterance production and language user’s regional background as influencing factors in one syntactic alternation, i.e., variation double object prepositional dative construction. To that end, this chapter zooms on (1) competition community regarding choice, (2) cross-regional inter-register variation, (3) register-specific coherence (aka intra-register variation). Comparing data from nine varieties English using corpora presumably share same structure (and registers) reveals is more important than context, effect register regionally variable registers are largely but not fully coherent. These findings do only stress nature probabilistic grammars also point to importance effects when studying (all scripts at https://osf.io/3djkr/).

Chapter 5 CONTEXT - BASED FILE BLOCK CLASSIFICATION
Because files are typically stored as sequences of data blocks, the file carving process in digital forensics involves the identification and collocation of the original blocks of files. Current file carving techniques that use the signatures of file headers and footers could be improved by first classifying each data block in the storage media as belonging to a given file type. Unfortunately, ...
متن کاملChapter 5 Distances between statistical models
SECTION 1 explains why randomizations in the Le Cam sense have advantages over Markov kernels for the definition of the Le Cam distance between statistical models. SECTION 2 derives several facts about linear functionals, the most important being the existence of a linear map that projects onto the space of countably additive measures. SECTION 3 uses the projection map from Section 2, and compa...
متن کاملChapter 2: Context
This chapter provides the background context for the problem, the setting, and the issues related to shopping environments, all of which establish the background for this dissertation. From the previously stated problem, globalization has influenced the appearance of new shopping developments and poses a threat to the viability of traditional shopping environments. The problem affects local eco...
متن کاملChapter 6 Community Analysis
In November 2010, a team of Dutch law enforcement agents dismantled a community of 30 million infected computers across the globe that were sending more than 3.6 billion daily spam mails. These distributed networks of infected computers are called botnets. The community of computers in a botnet transmit spam or viruses across the web without their owner’s permission. The members of a botnet are...
متن کاملChapter 5 Trees and Dags
In this chapter, we consider various representations of abstract tree-like data. In general, such data are elements of (possibly many-sorted) initial or free algebras without laws. To illustrate the use of separation logic, however, it is simplest to limit our discussion to a particular form of abstract data. For this purpose, as discussed in Section 1.7, we will use “S-expressions”, which were...
